Biography
For as long as she can remember Christine has been interested in theatre and music. Performing since a very young age, Christine has been blessed to work with wonderful theatre companies in the Twin Cities and regionally in outstate Minnesota and Wisconsin. Tours and out of town gigs have allowed Chris to work all over the country including longer stints in Maine, Maryland and Ohio.
Another lifelong passion for Christine is education. She attended Gustavus Adolphus College and got her degree in Theatre Arts and English as well as her MN state teaching license in both subjects. Chris has taught and directed with many reputable schools and organizations including seven seasons with St. Paul Academy's Artward Bound program. She also served as the Artistic Director of the Brooklyn Park Teen Community Theatre for two years. Other jobs include working as the Education Coordinator with the Sabes Jewish Community Center and as Curriculum Manager in the Education and Community Programs department with the Guthrie Theater. In August of '08 Chris began working with Youth Frontiers as a Retreat Director.
In August of 2006, Christine (née Nelson) married Tom Karki, who's also a performer. She has been so lucky to perform with him in three shows- one being the show in which they met: Bat Boy: The Musical with Minneapolis Musical Theatre. They live happily in Minneapolis with their wonderful chocolate lab, Jayme.
